3.7 Closing Process Group
The Closing Process Group consists of those processes performed to finalize all activities across all Project Management Process Groups to formally complete the project, phase or contractual obligations   (Project Management Institute, 2008, p 71).

Whew!! We are all done and the project is out the door, another satisfied customer, on to the next project, but wait. Are all of our suppliers paid in full, contracts completed, resources allocated to another need? One final step to delivering the deliverable is the closing phase that will ensure the project goals were met and resources are complete.

The historical data, tracking issues and how they were overcome, will become a lessons learned database. In lieu of using the same Band-Aids in the next project, we can make systemic adjustments to the organizational process assets to avert another occurrence.

4.6 Close Project or Phase
The process of finalizing all activities across all of the Project Management Process Groups to formally complete the project or phase   (Project Management Institute, 2008, p 64).

Artifacts:
Page three of this article examines the procurement phase of a project.

This artifact uses a purchased template that provided a basic outline for the procurement management process. I adapted the template to a fictional project and added items unique to aviation.

Searching for an artifact for project closeout, it dawned on me. What better tool for this class than to do a closeout report on PMGT 609. This report identifies the closing phase and is current to March 09, 2013.

12.4 Close Procurement's
The process of completing each project procurement (Project Management Institute, 2008, p 313).
